![]() ![]() Lawrence County, N.Y., to Seneca Township in 1836. Jedediah Rogers came in 1835 and made his claim where O.S. He came here from LaPorte County, Ind., and is one of the public spirited men of this section of the country. In 1835 John Belden made his claim where he now resides. Pettit remained here but a short time when he sold to Mr. ![]() Pettit made the first claim in this township in 1835. The township was named for a tribe of Indians in New York, from which the State came many of Seneca’s early settlers. It is one of the finest townships in the county the land is rich, gently rolling and under a high state of cultivation.In early times the west side of the township was heavily timbered, supplying building material and fuel in great abundance.The majority of the first houses in the township were built of oak procured from this belt of timber. Seneca, one of the center townships of the county, is joined on the east by Dorr, on the south by Coral, on the west by Marengo, and on the north by Hartland. MTFPD strives to provide top-notch training to all personnel to keep them sharp in all the areas in which we provide service.Seneca Township History in McHenry County, Illinois Our personnel are made up of both full-time and part-time firefighters, paramedics and EMT's. We received 6,874 emergency calls in 2021 for: MTFPD is comprised of 9 different Villages and Cities and protects 56 square miles and approximately 48,000 year-round residents. ![]() MTFPD is located approximately 60 miles Northwest of Chicago in the Northeastern portion of McHenry County. Each station has various numbers of personnel, ambulances and fire equipment based on call volume and need. Each Station is staffed by Full-time and Part-time personnel. The McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation responding out of 5 stations. The McHenry Township Fire Protection District is dedicated to providing the highest level of fire and rescue services to the communities it serves, through commitment preparedness, continuing education, and training of its members who work to assure the safety of the District's citizens on a daily basis. Serving the communities of Bull Valley, Johnsburg, Holiday Hills, Lakemoor, McCullom Lake, McHenry, Ringwood, portions of Wonder Lake & Island Lake, and unincorporated McHenry County since 1939. ![]()
